1What is an Oxygen Bar?
An oxygen bar is a Kiosk or a place that offers non-medical oxygen mixed with various scents including aromatherapy. The air we normally breathe contains about 21% oxygen and 78% nitrogen. Other gases like carbon dioxide, argon and trace gases make up the remaining 1%. The oxygen bar delivers between 90 and 92% oxygen at 3 liters per minute per person, allowing you to breathe 4 to 5 times the normal amount of oxygen. These oxygen bars uplift and refresh you as well as detoxify, giving you an overall good feeling and allows you to get your 2ND WIND!
2Are Oxygen bars legal?
Oxygen bars have been in operation in many parts of the world for years. In most countries including the US and Canada, the health authorities have not evaluated the oxygen bar industry, therefore have not approved or rejected the use of oxygen bars in their respective countries. That’s why you see disclaimers related to oxygen bar services and on recreational oxygen products that say “These statements have not been evaluated by the FDA”. There are very simple guidelines to follow which include using NO medical equipment and not allowing anyone who is prescribed medical oxygen by a doctor to have an oxygen bar session. There are currently 100’s of oxygen bars operating legally in many parts of the world in several different industries including tanning salons, nightclubs, hotels, malls, restaurants, casinos. Juice and coffee bars, cruise ships, hair salons and spas.
3Where do you get the oxygen?
The oxygen in oxygen bars come from completely self-contained machines called oxygen concentrators (non-medical). These non-medical concentrators use a technology called PSA (Pressure Awing Absorption), a NASA created technology that filters out Nitrogen, Argon and other trace gases from the ambient air increasing the oxygen content from 21% to 92% purity. The oxygen enriched air gets delivered to the oxygen bar patron and the Nitrogen and other gases get released back into the atmosphere. Once the oxygen equipment is purchased, you never have to buy oxygen again!
